On Sept. 10, 2025, in the presence of thousands of college students, his family, and live streamed to the world, Charlie Kirk, an innocent man of God, was brutally murdered. Charlie Kirk boldly proclaimed his love of Christ in not only his words, but also in his actions. He brought the message of hope through Christ to millions around the globe, but he especially touched the hearts of young people through the organization he created when he was just 19 years old called Turning Point. They flocked to his campus debates: those who agreed, disagreed, and those who were curious and just wanted to hear what he and their peers had to say. He gave them the truth, through the lens of the gospel, and they loved him for his authenticity, intellect, grace, and willingness to listen. He gave them the microphone and a platform to be heard, rather than to just be lectured to. He honestly wanted to hear what they thought and had to say, and they were welcomed one and all to share it.
Although he spoke on many contemporary societal issues, the foundational truth he cherished and shared was that a life lived in and devoted to Christ would fulfill whatever people were searching for, and that living a life dedicated to Christian values (God, Jesus, family, and country) would fill people with the strength of the Holy Spirit, which in turn would help them weather the challenges of life. Students — as well as people of all ages but especially the college age students he connected with — were brought into the merciful fold of Christianity. In a world corrupted by Satan, who is working double time right now to influence souls away from God, stood Charlie, tall with the armor of Christianity. In his words and actions he said, "Not today, Satan. In the holy name of Jesus, I rebuke you and your army of demons. I will profess that Christ is King to the ends of the earth. I am made strong through the power of the Resurrection and the Holy Spirit which dwells in me. Praise God."
Charlie Kirk lived what he preached. He had hope because of his faith and dedicated his life to sharing that hope and spreading the gospel of Christ, especially to impressionable young people whom Satan was marking as his own. Charlie's faith gave him the courage and fortitude to force Satan to retreat from his quest of capturing the minds and hearts of young people. Satan knew Charlie was a force he had to reckon with. Sadly, in these trying times it is discouraging to think that Satan's foothold robbed the world of such a shining light. Rest assured, God knows all and God watches all. Charlie's death will create an army of Charlies, all dedicated to amplifying, as Charlie did, God's holy word of salvation.
Faith wrapped in courage and fortitude in the face of adversity is what heroes and legends are made of. In this spiritual battle for souls, Charlie was a General in Christ's army, and a brother in Christ in the holy family of saints. Although he is gone physically, and we mourn his loss, the fruits of his ministry are about to multiply and blossom a hundred fold.
Charlie, a faithful and courageous servant, is at home now, resting eternally with his and our savior, Jesus Christ. His physical life, although ceased, will continue to bear fruit for Jesus. We, as similar servants in Christ, are grateful to have lived during the time he walked with us, if only to witness the global impact his life in Christ will make and has made. Yet, the work continues, just as Charlie had done, to boldly proclaim the good news that: He is risen. We are saved by the blood of Jesus.
We pray for Charlie's wife and children that they may be comforted by the love which Jesus has for them. We beseech thee Jesus, in your holy name please, that the power of the Holy Spirit, God's Holy Spirit, be known and felt throughout humanity. Please Jesus, call your people. Again, in Jesus' holy name we pray. Amen.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants." — Psalm 116:15
