I Forgot to Surrender to God, Again

By Sharen Robertson

Clasped hands in quiet prayer and surrender

I wonder if I'm the only one this happens to: I go along in life and little by little I find myself praying a little bit less, and find I'm a little bit less grateful and a little bit more materialistic and then, before you know it, not only am I consumed with worry about tomorrow but I also feel helpless. I worry about money and how will I ever pay my bills. I worry that I'll die alone. I worry about my health. I worry about whether or not I'm a good person, etc., etc., etc.

So, I go from a Christ-centered, peaceful, hopeful life to one separated from God by worry, stress, and helplessness. Do you ever forget to surrender your life to Jesus, too?

This just happened and thankfully I was prompted by the Holy Spirit within me to recognize my separation from God and redirect my focus toward Him. Surrendering your will to God is the key to a peaceful life.

All my worrying is not going to change anything so that's not a productive way to improve things. It's perfectly fine to recognize a problem though and pray for ways to solve it. Surrender to God all problems and ask for wisdom to solve them.

As we go through the trials and challenges of life, yes, we keep on keeping on, but we surrender the reigns to Jesus. Just take a deep breath and have unconditional faith that God will help you find a way and say thank you.

I wrote this yesterday to help myself and anyone reading this to get back on track.

Dear Father,

I pray and surrender my life to you. Please grant that abundance will continue to fill my life and thank you for protecting and loving me. Allow abundance to flow in all ways, but especially in my love towards others and towards myself (because you dwell within). Abundance, like sweet warm rain, flows from Heaven and fills my life. Thank you, Father, for all of my blessings and for always meeting my needs and for prompting with your Holy Spirit.

In Jesus' holy name I pray. Amen.
